Back
in 1998,
a Christian Dominant and web designer known as TaskMaster created a web
site dedicated to exploring the Biblical teachings concerning Dominance
and submission between men and women in a marriage, as well as the
sexual activities of bondage and discipline and "Sexual Mastery"- what
it is and isn't, and whether or not these activities violate the
Biblical teachings of Christian living.
It was a bold proposition, discussing these types of activities in a
Christian context. TaskMaster faced the issues directly, and
provided bulletin board forums where the discussions could be
engaged. He even provided a place for "differing opinions" to be
aired and discussed.
The web site grew and a small but loyal community formed around those
pages and a companion Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel with the same
name as the web site. Not only were these places a "town square"
where discussions could be held, they also became a place for single
men and women to meet and begin to learn about each other. A
significant number of these relationships flowered into romances and
marriages (including ours.)
By October of 2000, however, health problems and the press of trying to
keep up with such a large site forced TM to give up the web site to
others. The original Christian-BDSM.org web site slowly
disappeared from the Internet, existing only as a shadow of its former
self in an Internet archive web site called Archive.org.
When we decided to open Christians & BDSM, I made it a point to
attempt to return Christian-BDSM.org to the World Wide Web. It
has taken until now to clear all the hurdles that rose up to delay this
objective. The final hurdle was cleared with the
confirmation by TaskMaster that he had transferred ownership of the
copyright of the writings making up the Christian-BDSM.org web site to
us.
We have chosen to use the last complete set of web pages we were able
to locate on Archive.org. These pages do not include the forums,
for reasons
that are explained within the pages of Christian-BDSM.org. The
only modifications we have made to the pages are to redirect the links
to our web server, and to add a "return to Christians & BDSM" link
at the bottom of each page for your convience. Otherwise, the
pages are as they last were in 2000.
We present the following web pages as a remembrance of where we have
come from, to give a bit of historical perspective for those who are
new to the Christian BDSM lifestyle and to thank TaskMaster and his{TM}
for the pioneering work they did for us.
